My family was raised on a small 30 acre farm in Ohio.\u00a0 <\/span>We milked cows, made our own butter, had a HUGE garden, baled our own hay, butchered our own pigs, cows and chickens and we canned the vegetables we grew.\u00a0 <\/span>We drank milk every day.\u00a0 <\/span>It was fresh, raw, organic, grass fed, hormone free and healthy!\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \"dairy_cow_with_calves\"<\/a>\u00a0 Back then, all cows were grass fed.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s what they are supposed to eat \u2013 GRASS.\u00a0 <\/span>They have a complicated digestive system designed to eat grass.\u00a0 <\/span>NOT CORN or grain!\u00a0 <\/span>So, feed a cow mostly corn and guess what?\u00a0 <\/span>You have a sick cow.\u00a0 <\/span>Sick cows don\u2019t grow well.\u00a0 <\/span>So guess what?\u00a0 <\/span>They receive antibiotics to keep them fighting off the infections AND hormones to make them grow despite their illnesses.\u00a0 <\/span>ICK!\u00a0 <\/span>And then\u2026.\u00a0 milk the cow and serve up that antibiotic and hormone laden stuff and call it healthy.\u00a0 <\/span>Well, it\u2019s not!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After the cow has released its milk, the milk is now pasteurized.\u00a0 <\/span>That process alone changes the proteins in the milk and makes them non digestible for humans.\u00a0 <\/span>Did I mention yet that cow\u2019s milk is made for baby cows.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider this\u2026 Feed a baby cow the milk sold to humans and they won\u2019t live long enough to reach the age of butchering.\u00a0 <\/span>Moreover, calf\u2019s fed pasteurized milk will be underweight, low energy, and have poor quality skin and fur, which cannot be used for leather.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Furthermore, if you are drinking milk because it\u2019s \u201cdoes a body good\u201d or \u201cbuilds strong bones\u201d consider this:\u00a0 <\/span>The calcium that WAS in cows milk is attached to those proteins which were denatured in the pasteurization process and guess what?\u00a0 <\/span>We don\u2019t get the calcium from the milk!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If you are drinking cows milk, organic or not, if it\u2019s pasteurized (and you have to work really hard to find a farm willing to sell it to you raw), you have to ask yourself\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>WHY?\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Like the taste and have no expectations of health?\u00a0 <\/span>Think moderation\u00a0 <\/span>< 1 glass\/day.\u00a0 <\/span>If you are looking for calcium \u2013 get it where the cows used to\u2026.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Green Leafy Veggies<\/b>!<\/p>\n
